WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?

i want to grow up to be a person
The young Haitian children often want to practice their English. I asked one of the young lads, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” He responded cheerily, “A person.” I giggled and then questioned, “And what kind of person?”, expecting the response to be, teacher, lawyer, doctor, preacher…but he looked at me like I was truly dense and then answered, “When I grow up, I want to be…a…good…person.”
(according to Unicef’s unicel.org/infobycounty/haiti Haiti has the highest rates of infant, under-five and maternal mortality in the Western hemisphere. Diarrhoea, respiratory infections, malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS are the leading causes of death…with this in mind, it is truly a blessing to be able to JUST GROW UP and if you do, to be a good grownup…YOLANTHAISM)
