PRAYING TWO LIPS (a 72 hour flower power saga)

(April 14, 2014)
praising yellow flowers “PRAISE THE LORD,”
the two lips said.
Yesterday was Spring
grass was turning green
flowers began to show
frozen yellow tulips
(April 15, 2014)
“What’s this?”
the petals asked
to their friends the grass.
“Oooooh, nooooooo!!!
That right there is
what the people call
SNOW.
Now don’t be vexed
they’re blaming it on
something they call
polar vortex”
praying yellow flowers
(April 16, 2014)
the flowers heads
were now forever bent
praying over their
spring winter wonderland spent
they prayed they would
remember the fun
when once their heads
were raised to the sun.
(a poem from the cross-bred banquet of yolantha the new Maya Angelou, seasoned with Gwendolyn Brooks, bathed in Langston Hughes, peppered with Angela Davis, sprinkled with Mother Teresa, lathered in William Shakespeare, rolled in Edgar Allen Poe, embellished with Anne Sexton)
