KISS ME IN THE DAYLIGHT
(a poem for my white male friends)

kiss me in the daylight
where the world can see
my skin is dark
and yours is not.
let us not wink
from across the room
but arrive hand in hand.
let us sip from the same straw
in the open air.
kiss me in plain sight,
for I am not a woman of the night
even though
my skin is dark.
this is the poem I cry.
