It’s Complicated…

it's complicated
Single
and
alone.
it grows
on her
like a
warm worn
terry cloth robe
and pajama pants
with kitty kats
all over them.
until
he reminds her
of alternatives
by coaxing a smile
for a while.
His complicated is
the new dreaded word
that has replaced
commitment.
every time she
opens up her robe
to let someone in
it takes longer and
longer
to
regain the comfort
of
single and alone
again.
Its not that
she hates men
it’s that
she hates
the length of time
it takes her to become
comfortable
with
single and alone
again.
