An anthem poem–FOR WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD

self portrait
RIDE, BOSOMS, RIDE!!!
all you women
out in the world
let your dresses
swirl, swirl, swirl
and
ride, bosoms, ride!
tilt your heads back in pride
push all ugliness aside
grab another woman’s hand
and
ride, bosoms, ride!!!

Let us decree to stop woman on woman hate crimes: gossiping,
backstabbing, coveting and stealing one another’s men, stealing one another’s ideas on the job, alienating, bullying, rolling our eyes at each other. Men have taught us well. I once heard a male dignitary say that he did not worry about the women or Blacks in the community, because they were so busy with “in-fighting” I was shocked, seeing that I am a member of both communities. And he stated his truth, right to my face. RIDE, BOSOMS, RIDE!!!

(self portrait in acrylic and a poem from the banquet of yolantha, the new Maya Angelou, seasoned with Gwendolyn Brooks, bathed in Langston Hughes, peppered with Angela Davis, sprinkled with William Shakespeare, rolled in Edgar Allen Poe)
